Project Overview
For the 2024 New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show, the Hearst Building was reimagined as a scale model built almost entirely from plant-based materials, aligning with the show’s tradition of celebrating nature and architecture together. The structure was carefully constructed using MDF, acrylic and coats of urethane resin to provide a stable core, while the exterior textures and details were meticulously crafted from natural elements such as tree branches, seeds, and other botanical materials. This fusion of organic textures and architectural form captures the iconic geometry of the Hearst Building while honoring the handmade, earthy character that defines the Train Show’s magical landscape.
